Constitution & Bylaws Proposal

Dear Members of Messiah Lutheran Church,

As a congregation of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, Messiah is required to maintain a Constitution and Bylaws that are reviewed and approved by the Texas District. The last Constitution and Bylaws approved by the District were adopted in 1992. Since that time, amended versions have been used by the congregation as working documents, but more recent submissions to the Texas District have not been approved.

To address this and bring Messiah fully into alignment with LCMS and Texas District requirements, the Church Council established a Constitution and Bylaws Committee in early 2025. The Committee was tasked with preparing a complete rewrite of the Constitution and Bylaws that reflects current LCMS guidance, District expectations, and best practices for congregational governance.
